About This Collection of Printable Triangle Templates
The collection includes six different triangle categories. Within each category, you will find different sizes starting with a 1-inch triangle template and increasing in convenient 0.5-inch increments up to the largest size that will fit on a standard US letter-size page:
- Equilateral triangles (Equal same sides)
- Isosceles triangles (2 equal sides)
- Scalene triangles (All sides different)
- Right triangles (One angle with a 90° corner)
- Acute triangles (all angles < 90°)
- Obtuse triangles (one angle > 90°)
All templates are created using simple black outlines for easy printing, tracing, cutting, and coloring. The files are formatted for US letter-size paper and are designed to print accurately at their intended dimensions.
Every printable template is available in downloadable PDF format. To open the PDF version, you will need a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader. There are no download restrictions, so you may save and print the templates as often as needed for personal use only.

Equilateral Triangle Templates
Equilateral triangles have all three sides equal of equal length. The sizes of the triangles in this section are measured by the length of its side lines.
Isosceles Triangle Templates
An isosceles triangle is a triangle that has two sides of equal length. The third side is the base, and can be of equal length as the sides (as the equilateral triangles above), but the shapes below do not have the same length for the sides and base. The measurements provided are based on the measurement of the base.
Scalene Triangle Templates
A scalene triangle is a type of triangle where all three sides have different lengths, and all three interior angles are different from each other.
The size measurements for these scalene triangles refer to the approximate height of each triangle, measured from the base to the apex (top point). For example, a "2.0 inch triangle" has a height of approximately 2 inches.
Right Triangle Templates
A right triangle is a triangle that has one angle measuring exactly 90 degrees (a right angle).
Each right triangle in this template set is an isosceles right triangle, meaning both legs (the two sides that form the 90-degree angle) are equal in length.
The stated size of each triangle refers to the length of each leg that forms the 90 degrees angle. The hypotenuse (the diagonal side opposite the right angle) is longer.
Acute Triangle Templates
Acute triangles have all three angles at less than 90 degrees. The triangles used here have same bottom left and bottom right angles, while the top angle is different. Since the base angles are equal, the size refers to both the width (base) and the height of the triangle. Sizes start at 1 inch and increase by 0.5 inch on each page, up to the largest that fits.
Obtuse Triangle Shapes
An obtuse triangle is a triangle in which one of the interior angles measures more than 90 degrees. The other two angles are always acute (less than 90 degrees). The side opposite the obtuse angle is always the longest side of the triangle. Each triangle below is measured by the length of its base (the bottom horizontal side), except for the 6.5 inch and 7 inch triangles which I have rotated to fit the page. The sizes start at 1 inch and increase in increments of 0.5 inches, up to 7 inches (the largest that fits on this page).

What Can You Do With These Free Printables?
These free printable triangle templates can be used in many different ways at home, in the classroom, or for craft projects.
- Craft Projects and DIY Creations - Triangle templates are ideal for cutting shapes from construction paper, cardstock, felt, or fabric. Use them to create banners, wall decorations, geometric patterns, greeting cards, and layered paper crafts. Wide equilateral triangles can also be arranged into mosaic pictures or combined to form a modern art piece.
- Educational Activities and Classroom Learning - Teachers and parents can use these printable triangle templates during geometry lessons to demonstrate concepts such as the length of the sides, angle types, and classifications of triangles. Students can compare an isosceles triangle with a scalene triangle or identify right, acute, and obtuse triangles. The templates are also useful for math activities involving measurement, symmetry, and shape recognition.
- Fine Motor Skills Practice - Younger learners can strengthen fine motor skills by tracing, coloring, and carefully cutting along the triangle outlines. Activities like these help improve hand-eye coordination while making learning more engaging.
- School Projects and Presentations - Need triangle shapes for a school project? These templates make it easy to create neat, accurate diagrams and displays. Students can use them for posters, presentations, science fair projects, and geometry assignments.
- Art and Creative Expression - Let your creative juices flow by incorporating triangles into original artwork. Arrange multiple inch triangles into abstract designs, landscape scenes, animal figures, or colorful geometric patterns.
- Classroom Displays and Bulletin Boards - Use larger triangle templates as labels, title cards, or decorative accents for bulletin boards. Smaller triangles can be grouped together to create colorful borders, patterns, and interactive displays.
- Family Crafts and Homemade Gifts - Create gift tags, decorations, bookmarks, and keepsakes using the templates.
